I like it. There are some great tips in here and I use many of them. The one thing my girlfriend added to the list, that might not cut cost in the short run, but is important is to look at the label.

For instance a bottle of “orange juice” that contains water and orange juice might be slightly more expensive than a bottle that contains [insert name of complex chemical that tastes like orange juice that I don't understand]. But by choosing the real orange juice you will probably save a lot of money on medical bills over the course of your life.

I love the grocery game. I tried to do it on my own for a while and decided to go back. Just the first week to the store, only clipping coupons from the coupon page links on the website, I saved $40. I have found shopping without my son is impossible, but I do my clipping and lists without him and I only shop off the list. No extras, no exceptions.

My husband, you give him a list and he’ll mechanically follow it. I on the other hand, can never find the list, and even if I could, I’m prone to impulse shopping. So what do we do? As much as possible, my husband does the shopping. That’s how we save.

But this is a problem. How do I get the list to him? We tried a mixture of emails and phone calls with poor results. You see, I’m at home and I know what’s on the shopping list. I’ve tried a number of on-line shopping lists with the goal to share the list that way but they haven’t work, though lately I’ve been using a site, http://www.clanjive.com which has been working well. First it’s free. In fact, I don’t even have to create an account. But I like two features, first there’s a great input suggest feature that remembers entries I’ve already typed in. Better yet, there is a “Send to Cell Phone” feature. I can send the shopping list to my husband’s cell phone.

Many people have never thought of this, the produce dept waters down produce to add weight to your order. So shake your lettuce a bit and see for yourself before and after on the scales right in the produce dept.
