I'm trying to get myself down to 3 posts every 2 days. But I'm not very good at it. I seem to go in fits and starts...everything will be set up for days and suddenly I'll be pushing deadlines again. My current schedule is twice daily.

[...] So You Want to be a Blogger? - I whole heartedly agree with FD on a lot of this. Being a blogger takes a lot of hard work and commitment and it’s easy to burn out. For me, and I’m not as talented as others, a blog post every other day is the right schedule. Most importantly, it allows you to live a life outside and keep the content level on your blog high… [...]

Awesome post, esp for those newbies in the area such as myself! I'm hoping to pump out a pretty stable schedule down the road, and reading some posts on this topic def. helps.

I'm really diggin' the one post per weekday schedule i'm currently on, so hopefully we're on the right track. I agree that quality over quantity is the way to go, so i'll work on keeping it on the forefront.

Thanks!

I try to post one or two posts per day Mon-Fri and then I typically take the weekends off. I actually write all of my posts (almost) on Saturday and Sunday so that I literally just have to publish them through the week. There are some entries where that isn't possible, but if I can get the majority done on the weekend it leaves me more time to concentrate on the other elements of our site.

I think creating a working schedule is great and once you find your niche (as you had discussed earlier) then you can begin to find a natural rhythm. Some people find themes or specific topics each day can work for them. For example, I try to share a recipe on Monday, Tuesday I share posts from other places I am working at, Wednesday I work on a series post, Thursday I share links to others, Friday I work on freebies and recapturing all we did throughout the week. It helps keep things fresh, but people also know what to expect (usually) on certain days.

I love your series! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the link FD!
When I sat down and wrote out that schedule, tweaking it a few times, it may sound strange, but a certain calmness came over me. It was if I knew what I was supposed to be doing.

Up until that point, I had a few articles "banked" but never knew where my inspiration would lead me. Now I have a way of pointing myself in a certain direction when I sit down to type.

Thanks again for the link. :)

It just comes down to what is going to be a sustainable pace for you in your life. Don't kid yourself that you'll be able to post twice a day every day for a year...when you're only making $28 a month from it.

This is an interesting topic. I have seen advice suggesting that a daily post is best and then others that suggest less frequent posts so articles can "sink in" as you mention. I guess the goal is to keep fresh content on your site without overloading your readers. There is so much information we have to absorb nowadays that this is sometimes hard to gauge.

Thank you very much for this post. It was extremely timely for me since I'm still trying to figure out how to get my blog to grow. I generally haven't been posting unless I have something meaningful to say. I should probably go ahead and post every day for a while to let it become stable.
