Yep, with a family who "see" TV differently it comes down to pragmatic practicalities - aka I wanna continue to live with these guys. One reason to watch some TV here in J-land is to learn more of the language. So I moved the TV to the basement and just stopped watching it. I still watch TV shows but now it's on my schedule and it's the shows I want to watch (on hulu.com or other similar sites) and turns out I also watch a lot less TV and get a lot more done.
