Easiest way to save money is to give up all those things that you try to depend upon every day but you don't "actually" need.

Here's a few easy ones:

- Skip that coffee in the morning
- Bring your lunch to work
- Avoid buying snacks, either make your own or go without
- Get public transport to & from work
- Make enough dinner for multiple nights & freeze the rest

Probably the most significant for me has been paying all of my money earnt into my mortgage. When you calculate how much interest you're saving year on year, it's by far the single biggest thing I've done to ensure the later years are financially secure ones :)

Great list! I think the clothing swap is a really great idea. Everyone has stuff they won't wear or doesn't fit, and the opportunity to trade it is great. This could also be organized on a community level!

Here's 50 more tips for you:

raid the cupboards before you go shopping. make a list of what you have and what you can make with what you have already. generally you can work out alot of recipes with the stuff you have before you even go shopping.

eat something before going shopping. never shop on an empty stomach otherwise you end up buying stuff cos you are hungry.

buy generic products.

shop at fruit and vegie shops instead of supermarkets. the produce is alot cheaper and fresher.

Buy non perishables in bulk.

cook for a few serves and freeze for later.

become vegetarian. with the price of meat its alot cheaper, and its not as bad as you think.

joint shop with friends. pool your money together, buy bulk and split everything.

I found that inviting neibors and friends over once a month for a salsa party is great way to intertain and make diffrent things. We just did our back to school breakfast. everyone plans a item waffles , eggs, pancakes what ever brings the nessarry items to make and we all make tons of the diffrent things together at the end we divide them into portions and give some of everything to everyone that came. I have ready made breakfast for the back to school month and all i have to do is reheat either in the toaster or the microwave. i made frenchaffles. french toast in the waffle maker faster and the little dents hold the syrup better the kids say. We do this at least once a month. the guys come to some cook most of them play horse shoes and drink beer though fun for everyone

Wow, what a great list! You've made some excellent points on your list, saving money is the way to go, especially in the economic turmoil that we are in. There are also a lot of other resources out there if you have to be frugal. Check out this site: http://www.couponhubby.com There are a ton of coupons around, so why not use them to your advantage?

THe greatest waster of money is the haphazard life. Once upon a time man was a hunter/gatherer; a grazer too. We were on the go and grabbed what we could when we could. Then came civilization, we learned to harness our resources and make them work for us. We've come full circle and our environment once again controls us. We graze off of vending machines and via drive through windows.
The short point of this much longer though is that we don't plan or take the time to plan. Take the time to plan but first take time to plan on planning. Don't just decide to save money now, think about how you should go about it and them take small steps. Have kids use local grocery store web sites to find sales (many let you add sale items to a printable shopping list). My rule is if it's not on the shopping list on sale it doesn't get bought. That's one change in my life and I don't make any new large ones till that one sticks and becomes routine. Then it's on to others.I always research and compare and read reviews of items I'm going to spend more than $40 on but set your own limit.

Better $$$ wise and health wise is a double whammy!!

[...] Money saving tips are something you run across quite frequently if you are browsing in the blogosphere (or talking to my parents). Whether it’s big savings like negotiation tactics for buying a new car, buying a used baby stroller or small stuff like making your lunch and creative uses for used dryer sheets - everyone has a suggestion for saving money.
I agree about Angel Food. I volunteer to distribute Angel Food in my community. It is a big help to a lot of people. For $30 you get a box of food worth about $60, and the menu varies each month. It’s not just for lower-income families – anyone and everyone qualifies to participate. Local Angel Food host sites are listed at http://www.angelfoodministries.com/hosts.asp.

Tip 55 complained about air dried clothes being stiff. But if you are using an indoor clothes drying rack like this one AND put it under the ceiling fan then the clothes will not be stiff. The extra air movement lets then dry soft.
