Most of my posts here are in the 700-1000 word range where I try to cover a subject and move on to let you, the readers, discuss. I have also heard that more infrequent posting generates more readers, but more frequent posting increases the chances of new readers finding you, so it's probably a wash. @Dana: I think it does depend on the blog in that some bloggers post infrequently, but generate huge, in-depth posts.
