My in-laws started this tradition about 20 years ago, and, though my father-in-law has passed now, my husband and I continue it. Then we all had breakfast together. We repeated this the next year for those of us that figured the Millenium began in 2001, and then continued each year afterwards. The next morning, we'd of course think Santa brought them. Now as adults, my brother waits for us all to go to bed before bringing out the gifts. Just to keep the magic going.
