Good for you frugaldad! Great post. I was just on a canadian site doing mortgage calculations in the CFO Community... the rates up here are as low as 3.8% for 5yr fixed. But still, when you do the 1st year Mortgage calculation and compare to what you think you'll sell for, it makes you wonder... http://www.wakeupordiepoor.com Feedback??

I've always said that you can change your environment you're halfway there. (ie: get out of the store). I'm a fan of high end audio - but at present am not enjoying a high end income. So for now, the stuff I have will do just fine and I stay out of the stereo stores and away from eBay and other online classified. Ignorance can indeed be bliss. :)

Today I said no to an expensive pair of shoes. It may seem like a small thing but it was huge for me. I had a list and was determined to stick to it. The shoes were gorgeous and my inner voice was telling me that I deserved them. In the end, I walked away, saving $1050 by not purchasing the shoes. It feels great to say no.

[...] The Art of Saying “No”. I am the worst at saying “no” to people, because I am a people pleaser, but sometimes my time is too valuable, and I end up doing things that I shouldn’t get involved in. I also need to learn to say “no” to myself when I see a new gadget that I really like! [Frugal Dad] [...]

[...] The Art Of Saying No. It really is an art and it requires practice to get really good at it – but you’ll never regret limiting your commitments to those you CAN and WANT TO keep. [...]
