52 Books in 2008

My number one New Year’s resolution this year was to start reading more. I set an aggressive goal of reading one non-fiction book a week, for an entire year. I call this my “52 Books in 2008″ series and will update this page as I add new books to my collection. Each link will take you to a detailed review of the book. If you are interested in started a reading hobby of your own, I have some ideas for keeping your costs down. If you need motivation to start a reading program remember the words of Charlie “Tremendous” Jones, “You are the same today you’ll be in five years except for two things: the people you meet and the books you read.”

  1. Stay Mad For Life
  2. Your Money or Your Life
  3. The Money Trap
  4. The Total Money Makeover
  5. The Maui Millionaires
  6. The Lies About Money
  7. Getting a Life
  8. Generation Debt
  9. Kiss the Rat Race Good-Bye
  10. The Ultimate Cheapskate’s Road Map to True Riches
  11. Debt is Slavery

  2. Great idea, I love a good book, good dose escapism or postive attitude and motivational reading always changes my perspective.

May well have a go at 40 books in 2008.

  3. Great Resolution! I too made the resolution to make more time for reading but my resolution is to read 25 books for pure fun and enjoyment. I read soooo many books for work and so many ‘self help’ books that I wanted to make time for those books that offer nothing except escape, relaxation, and a good story.
In fact, I’m off to the library this afternoon to pick up a few books- though I’m sure a few financial books will make it home with me today too :-)

  4. Excellent concept — You’re going through many of my favorite books and some that I’ve wanted to read. Would highly recommend “Automatic Wealth” by Michael Masterson – more off the beaten track and direct than most, from someone who has done it rather than just write about it.

    Cheers
