You mentioned poor SEO early on - I suffered from the same problem. I made it a weekend project to go back through my first 100 posts or so and retitle them (just the title, not the permalink/URL structure) with optimized titles. Since doing that I've seen some increased SE traffic on older posts that didn't rank very high previously.
A few other ideas:
+ Comment on 15-20 blogs in your niche per day + Participate in two or three blog carnivals per week. If there are no hosts in your niche, consider volunteering to host, or look for closely related niches with a good fit from your recent archives. + Participate in forums and include a link to your blog. Check - nicely done here at Frugal Dad Forums. Join a couple others to increase interest. + Ask to guest host on larger blogs in your niche (but not THE largest blogs - some of them are more selective about who they accept posts from. I don't reject guest posts if the writer is good...I don't care how big or small their blog is).
Help me out here guys...more tips for increasing blog traffic?
